The axe has an extended poll for hammering wedges, a tang in front of the haft to help protect it from harsh use, and the bearded blade profile allows us to keep the weight under 3 lbs while keeping a full size cutting edge. The haft is carved from a piece of hickory and is finished with beeswax and linseed oil. The head material is forged from 4140 steel
